History
The idea of creating an event to bring together Italian and international wine producers was the young entrepreneur from Verona, Giovanni Mantovani, now CEO of Veronafiere. The first edition organized in 1967, at the Palazzo della Gran Guardia in Verona, was an immediate success and saw the participation of around 100 exhibitors.
Moving to the Verona exhibition center in the 1980s, over the years it has become increasingly larger and more international, with the participation of producers from all over the world.
In 1990 it was opened to the public, allowing visitors to taste the wines on display and participate in events and seminars on wine culture that still constitute an important part of the event today.
Over the years it has hosted numerous initiatives, including the presentation of new vintages and the organization of competitions between the various producers.
Vinitaly, what kind of fair is it?
The fair is divided into different thematic areas, including red wines, white wines, sparkling wines, champagne, liqueurs and spirits, each dedicated to a specific type of wine. For example, the Vinitalybio section is dedicated to organic and biodynamic wines, while the Vinitaly Design section is dedicated to the art and design of wine bottles and labels.
Among the most famous events are the Vinitaly International Wine Competition, the Vinitaly Design International Packaging Competition which rewards the best wines and packaging presented by exhibitors and the Vinitaly OperaWine which celebrates the best Italian wines selected by Wine Spectator.
We at IP have decided to participate in Enolitech, the show dedicated to the best high-tech solutions for the entire technological supply chain applied to viticulture, olive growing and beverage.

With the participation of over 4,000 exhibitors from all over the world and the influx of over 125,000 visitors every year, the fair has become a great showcase for the latest trends and innovations in the world of wine. For example, in recent years the fair has dedicated more and more space to natural wines, sustainable labels and ecological practices in the vineyard.
Vinitaly has also been a pioneer in the use of technology to make the fair experience more engaging and effective. In 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, it launched Vinitaly Plus, a digital platform that allowed exhibitors to present their products virtually.
For us, Vinitaly is not just a trade fair. For us, the fair is an important moment of exchange of knowledge and an excellent place to discover new wine production techniques in order to design products in step with market innovations.
